No sashimi for me!

Annette buys super fresh fish from a market in Cambridge that we eat for sashimi. When offered some the other night, Joshua said, "No, I'm worried there might be some worms in it."
Annette and I have been talking about how the the fish market guys take out any worms they see in the fish they are preparing. Last week, Annette thought she saw one. And it seems that Joshua has been listening very carefully.

You've reached your destination!

The other day walking to school, Joshua was holding a piece of aluminum foil in front of him. I asked him what it was. He said, "My GPS dad. Make a left turn in 200 feet." When we got to school, he said, "You have reached your destination!"

Stop It!

I lost it this morning with Joshua. I was cooking his lunch, while also preparing the boys breakfast and trying to get Joshua dressed for school. Samuel was playing with toys and Joshua kept taking them away instead of putting on his clothes. Samuel was crying and Joshua wasn't letting go. So I slapped my hands and shouted, "Stop it!" Of course Joshua started to cry, and I quickly composed myself and went over to him. I said that even though I was frustrated, I shouldn't shout and I apologized to him. I explained that I really needed his help because I was trying to take care of both of the boys. He was very agreeable and stopped crying quickly and became much more helpful. Overrall, a good outcome. But the first time I think I've lost it with the boys.

Winnie the Pooh

is still too scary for Josh. While watching the video at preschool today, even that got him spoked out, when the thunderstorm happened. I'm starting to wonder if our decision not to have a TV in the house has had any negative effects such as making him too sensitive/soft.
