Dinner conversation

I ask Joshua: "Who's your best friend Joshua?" He replies, "You are daddy..uhh...no...Samuel is my best friend."

As we are listening to some praise music: "This is from our church! Why is it on the Ipod?"

When he hears a voice on the radio, "Maybe that's Barack Obama"

Gatorade

I was drinking a bottle of Gatorade today when Joshua asked me, "What's that?" I told him "Gatorade," pointing at the label which just had a big "G" on it. He then surprised me by asking, "Where's the A?" I guess he's starting to spell!

I'm glad you're eating breakfast with me

Joshua said to me this morning. It was so sweet. Joshua says sweet, endearing things to us all the time, like "You're my friend daddy. I love you." Outside the home, he is more withdrawn and shy, but we feel so lucky to be his parents and in his "inner circle."

My first underwear

Joshua has been doing a great job wearing underwear. He has had several days staying completely dry at home and at school starting this past week.

Brothers

Joshua loves his little brother. The other moning, I went into his room with Samuel and he exclaimed, "We're both pumpkins!" He refers to all horizontally striped shirts/pajamas as his pumpkin outfits because his first one was orange.

Frogs and humidifiers

I took Joshua to the Museum of Science Frog exhibit this weekend. He happily scurried from one glass cage to another, pointing out rocks and waterfalls, and even noticed an occasional frog. When he got home, he told Annette, "The frogs didn't say 'ribbet'!" He also explained to her, "The blue frogs are poisonous, if you eat them, you'll die!"

Joshua likes to join the conversations that Annette and I have in the car. The other day, he told us from the back, "The room is very dry, we need to use a 'hu-meee-difier'."

Hard Work and Anger

I busted out Joshua's devotional book this week and was surprised that Joshua was able to follow along. We read a story about wildcats and how they can look nice, but can quickly turn mean and nasty. When asked what makes him angry, he said, "When people say 'I don't like you', that makes me sad."
The hard work story was about beavers and how they chop down wood and build dams. Joshua asked, "What's endurance?". It is fun teaching him new words and concepts every day. When asked what things are hard for him to do, he said, "When there is a lot to clean up, that's very hard." Well put buddy.
